Bone Of Contention

from Reptile Dysfunction by Tony Castellano

/

about

This song was inspired by heavy tracks such as "Man Of Our Times" off of the 1980 Genesis album 'Duke', as well as 'Lion Of Symmetry', a piece Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks recorded for a soundtrack which featured Toyah Wilcox (wife of Robert Fripp) on vocals. I've always loved that sound which to me suggests a huge and intricate piece of machinery slowly and deliberately rolling over you (in a good way). The manner in which the arrangement builds in the quieter middle section was inspired by the middle section of "Dogs" from Pink Floyd's 1977 'Animals' album.
