Eleventh Hour

from Keep Away From Heat by Tony Castellano

/

about

A song that attempts to pay homage to one of my favorite bands, Gentle Giant, and is mostly inspired by their song "On Reflection" (from the 1975 'Free Hand' album). The title comes from the fact that the verse sections are in 11/8 time. The Giant-esque vocals and lyrics were added last and serve to illustrate two different attitudes towards an impending deadline, with two vocal tracks each taking the opposing viewpoints.

lyrics

what’s the rush there is still time left like I said I will do it in good time there’s no need to be so uptight you’ve no right to be pushing me so hard what’s the rush there is still time left like I said I will do it in good time there’s no need to be so uptight you’ve no right to be nagging me this way all of the time you should know that it’s time to go the hour is too late to be putting it off you’ll regret if you wait much longer now is the time to be getting it done you should know that it’s time to go the hour is too late to be putting it off you’ll regret if you wait much longer now is the time to be preparing to get it done I don’t know why you are so concerned about this thing you should lighten up and relax there is still time take it slow everything will work out somehow I know with a little bit of patience you will go far I don’t know why you are so concerned about this thing you should lighten up and relax there is still time take it slow everything will work out somehow I know with a little bit of patience you will come to see my way the deadline is almost here and you still haven’t done anything yet how can you be so unconcerned I don’t think you realize the situation we are in nor the repercussions if you don’t act what must I say to make you see why do you procrastinate the deadline is almost here and you still haven’t done anything yet how can you be so unconcerned I don’t think you realize the situation we are in nor the repercussions if you don’t act what must I say to make you see time is running out for you
