This is a brilliant album - really really brilliant! In my opinion, it's even better than its follow-up "When The Dust Settles...", although this is hard to imagine. On "Decade Reference", everything just falls into place - the exquisite compositions, the great vocals, a stunning guitar sound, many exciting keyboard arrangements... a real joy to my ears, which have to witness too much musical garbage nowadays in exactly this genre. Too bad that "Salmon" obviously has done these two albums only...

I'm a long-time fan of Dutch prog - an affection that dates back to the 70's when "Focus", "Kayak", and "Finch" issued their legendary albums, and that was nourished over time by newer bands like "Trion", "Flamborough Head", "Us", "Like Wendy"... and "Fractal Mirror", of course. Dutch prog usually exposes a highly developed passion for great melodies and lush, classically oriented orchestration. The endlessly meandering vocal and instrumental lines, as well as the overwhelming mellotron arrangements found everywhere on this four-track EP, are a perfect example.
